Manchester United legend Sir Bobby Charlton has said that Cristiano Ronaldo was clearly a better player when he was at Manchester United. It is a statement that will certainly raise a number of eyebrows because Ronaldo has experienced a lot of success individually at Real Madrid. Even though he spent a lot of years at Manchester United, he managed to score more than 40 goals in only one season, while he has already doubled his tally at Real Madrid. He is currently the fastest player in the history of Real Madrid to score 100 goals.
However, in terms of trophies, it is an entirely different matter because Cristiano Ronaldo has not been able to replicate the same number of trophies at Real Madrid. At Manchester United, the Portuguese lifted the league title, Carling cup, and the Champions League. However, he has just lifted the league title with Real Madrid, while he is yet to make a final appearance in the Champions League. Most of all, Ronaldo won the coveted European player of the year award while he was at Manchester United. Since moving to Real Madrid, the trophy has been won by Barcelona striker Lionel Messi for three times in a row.
“He`s a wonderful player. Obviously, I know him well because he played at United, so it`s no surprise for me that he`s having such a remarkable season. But I think he was better at United than he is at Madrid. Seriously! Here, he scores more goals, but he played in Manchester in the middle of the field but Real Madrid see him more as a striker,” said Bobby Charlton when asked about the 27-year-old, who has once again suffered a heart break with Real Madrid in the Champions League after exiting the competition on penalties at the hands of Bayern Munich.

Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo has said that he is definitely not feeling any pressure of playing against Barcelona, despite having not performed well in recent matches against the Catalan club. Real Madrid have been extremely poor against Barcelona in recent seasons, despite the arrival of former Chelsea and Inter Milan manager José Mourinho.
José Mourinho mastered the defeat of Barcelona in the semifinals of the Champions League just before arriving at Real Madrid. He was expected to bring the same success to the Santiago Bernabeu, but it has not happened at all. So far, José Mourinho has just one victory against Barcelona in all of the nine matches he has played against the Catalan club and Guardiola.
Despite fielding a very strong line-up and adopting different tactics for the previous match against Barcelona, Real Madrid still lost in the El Clasico. One of the main reasons for the previous loss at the hands of Barcelona was Cristiano Ronaldo, who missed some good opportunities to score at the other end. As a result of it, he was criticised by both the media and the Real Madrid fans. It seems to have infuriated the Portuguese star, who has controlled his emotions by saying that he is definitely not feeling the pressure of playing against Barcelona.
“I always try to relax before a game. The pressure doesn’t get to me. I try to stay positive and always see new challenges. My mental strength is very important to me. I just want to win every game and play well. That’s always my goal; put in a good performance and get a good result,” Ronaldo said in an interview with DT. The first leg of the Copa del Ray quarter-finals against Barcelona will give Real Madrid the perfect opportunity to claim revenge.

Cristiano Ronaldo maintained his incredible scoring record for Real Madrid as he scored once again over the weekend, this time against Valencia. It was an important match given that Valencia are trying to get back into one of the top spots of the table. The victory was extremely close, but Real Madrid edged out once again, thanks to Ronaldo.
Barcelona had a more comfortable 4-0 win over Real Zaragoza, with Lionel Messi again on the score sheet for Barcelona, but he could not prevent Real Madrid re-claiming their 3 point lead with their narrow win over Valencia.
Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos scored the other goals for Real Madrid. Real Madrid looked to be heading for a comfortable win over Valencia when Karim Benzema and Sergio Ramos scored in the 20th and 70th min respectively. However, Valencia hit back with a goal from Soldado in the 75th minute before Ronaldo looked it has secured the game a few minutes later. Soldado scored once again, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation.
Despite the slender advantage that Real Madrid enjoy over Barcelona, Cristiano Ronaldo cannot say the same in his battle to win the Golden Boot. Lionel Messi is currently the leader when it comes to the number of goals scored – 15. However, Cristiano Ronaldo has been in sensational form this season and it will not be long before he overtakes Messi. Real Madrid have managed to weather the storm of newcomers Levante, who threatened to destroy the dominance that Real Madrid and Barcelona have been exerting in the last few years.
Madrid have the 31 points to the 28 points of Barcelona.
